About Cathy

Hi there – I’m Cathy Alessandra and I’m so glad you stopped by! If you want to read my “official” bio, please click here! Otherwise, let me get a bit more personal and share a little about me with you!

I started my first magazine, What’s Up For Kids, in 1995 based on a need – the need of finding things to do with my 3 little kids in our local area – all in one publication. What started as a 4 page newsletter and a 1000 copies has grown to a full color glossy magazine with a print circulation of 20,000. At the 20 year mark in November of 2015, I sold the magazine to the Associate Publisher who continues the tradition I created!

During the years of growing my first company, What’s Up For Kids,  I experienced the struggle of juggling 3 babies, a husband and a business from a home office – but I also LOVED what I was doing. I wanted to help mompreneurs like myself launch and grow a business while enjoying all the benefits of motherhood – without suffering “SuperMom” or “SuperWoman” Fatigue. I began the National Association of Entrepreneur Moms (NAOEM) at the beginning of 2009 to empower entrepreneur moms with information, tools and resources so they could pursue their passion and balance their life.

But after struggling with the association model for 2 years, in 2011, I was asked a question by my business coach. A simple question that shifted my business… “Cathy, why are you not publishing a magazine for women entrepreneurs?” Well – why wasn’t I? I had done it quite successfully for almost 15 years at that point. So, I made a shift from the association and within 2 months of that question, launched my new magazine and incorporated NAOEM into Today’s Innovative Woman– The Source for Your Success! Today’s Innovative Woman was a magazine for smart, savvy women entrepreneurs featuring the hottest tips and latest trends in business. From sales and marketing, to branding and social media – from fashion and beauty to home and family, it was ALL covered for the successful woman on the go! And big news, I have sold that magazine as well, effective January 2015!

In 2013, I found myself on a journey – one of deep reflection and self-discovery. It was a difficult time for me personally – facing some challenges and set-backs. But in November of 2013, it all came together in the perfect storm when I discovered the YES I CAN in me – and I’ve made it my mission to share it with women around the globe.

DSC_3541I am now 52, those same 3 small children are now ages 20, 22 and 25 and I have a life I love living!  My interests and priorities have changed over the years and I still face challenges – but I truly LOVE what I do and have learned to be grateful for every experience (even the ones I don’t like so much)!

This new decade brings exciting things from me! Not only am I now 52, but my company celebrated it’s 20th anniversary at the end of 2015! I have made some big shifts in my business, exiting & selling the magazines and taking on new endeavors, most importantly supporting women in their YES I CAN! My latest book, Yes I Can: The Mindset, Mantra and Motivation for Success, hit #1 on Amazon, Women and Business! I’m speaking on stages around the country sharing the inspirational message of YES I CAN. And I am personally coaching women, 1 on 1, to reach their goals and dreams! In Fall of 2017, my new book, Whose Addiction Is It Anyway? A Mother’s Journey of Taking Control and Letting Go will release on Amazon as well as a version 2.0 of Yes I Can!

DSC_1118I’ve discovered, designed and am LIVING my YES I CAN life! I’m checking things off my bucket list (like white water rafting, snow shoeing and a hot air balloon ride), I’m present in all my relationships, I’m an empty nester right down to being single after almost 30 years of marriage- all because I’m living my YES!

You can watch part of my story below. Geffner Productions created this video for me in early 2013 – prior to my YES   I CAN aha’s and 75 pound weight loss!  Let’s connect on social media – of if you have more questions, please email cathy@cathyalessandra.com.

Here’s to living your YES!
